Elizabeth Moody
PartnerELIZABETH MOODY, partner and chair of the New Media Group, is a pioneer in the digital media world. Moody has been spearheading digital music and video initiatives since the post-Napster era, both as outside counsel and as a business executive in-house at companies like YouTube and Pandora. Today, she remains positioned at the intersection of technology and music rights, advising her technology and rightsholder clients on innovative business models and licensing deals.
Moody is at the forefront of the developing opportunities AI presents to the music and entertainment industries. She counsels nearly a dozen generative voice and audio AI companies, including prominent services already launched and some forthcoming. She also advises rights holders on AI strategies and works with the non-profit Fairly Trained, which certifies AI companies using fairly acquired data, and Audioshake, an AI-based stem separation tool used by record labels, movie studios, and entertainment companies. She collaborates with Sureel AI, which enables protection, control, monetization, and attribution of AI content, and Copyright Delta, which connects rights holders and AI tech platforms.
She is also deeply engaged in gaming and web 3.0. She is partnerships counsel for Roblox, works closely with Wave XR on virtual concerts, and has helped expand Styngr’s efforts to integrate music into video games. She represents Audius, a blockchain-based music streaming service fostering artist-fan connections through decentralization, and Revelator, a platform providing digital distribution, analytics, and web 3.0 services.
Beyond music, Moody helps fitness, wellness, and medical industries integrate music. She has worked with Hydrow since its 2019 launch and collaborates with Litesport and FitXR on VR fitness. She also advises MediMusic on licensing structures for using music in pain, dementia, and mental illness treatments.

A veteran in the digital music space, Elizabeth has been recognized by Billboard on its “Top Music Lawyers” and "Women in Music" lists, and has been named to Variety’s “Legal Impact Report” and “Dealmakers Impact Report.”
Prior to joining GDR, Elizabeth held senior legal and content strategy positions at household music and technology companies such as Hydrow, Pandora, Verizon OnCue, YouTube, and Google. She began her legal career at Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison, LLP and Davis Shapiro Lewit & Grabel, LLP. Elizabeth received her B.A. from Colby College and her J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law.
